# Heir

> Heir is an end-to-end encrypted digital legacy vault, built in Singapore.

## What Heir Does

Heir lets you store passwords, documents, and digital assets in an encrypted vault. If something happens to you, your vault is securely passed on to the people you trust.

Your data is encrypted on your device before it ever reaches Heir's servers. Heir uses a zero-knowledge architecture — the company cannot access your vault contents.

## How It Works

- **Vault**: Store passwords, bank logins, crypto wallets, insurance policies, and important documents in an AES-256 encrypted vault.
- **Heartbeat Protocol**: A dead man's switch that periodically checks you're still around. Your vault is only released to your heirs when you stop responding.
- **Secure Heir Handover**: Invite people you trust and verify them with emoji fingerprints. A Curve25519 cryptographic key exchange ensures only they can decrypt your vault.
- **Vault Freshness**: Gentle reminders when items haven't been reviewed in a while, keeping your vault accurate.

## Security

- **Zero-Knowledge Architecture**: Encryption keys are generated on your device and never leave it. Servers only store ciphertext.
- **End-to-End Encryption**: AES-256 for vault data, Curve25519 for heir key exchange.
- **Device-Only Keys**: Master keys live in the device's secure enclave, protected by biometrics. No cloud key storage.
- **Verified Heir Identity**: Emoji fingerprints derived from cryptographic key hashes let you verify your heir's identity in person.
